A trail running along the left bank of the Allier River.
Starting in Moulins Bain and passing under the iron bridge, this 6-km trail—which is gravel-surfaced in its first section—leads to Bressolles.
The Beaver Trail provides easy access to the Val d'Allier National Nature Reserve from Moulins after a few kilometers of easy walking.
Hikers will be amazed to spot a wide variety of birds (European bee-eaters, kingfishers, black kites, orioles, and more) and to encounter coypu, roe deer... as well as beavers—but only if they venture out at night.
Educational stations dot the trail: an observation platform for small animals in the waterholes and ponds, carved animal tracks, a “wing span calculator” for birds, and an observation fence…. Benches along the water’s edge welcome passersby.
